Following the success of our inaugural year Cedars Coaching Academy is now able to offer our next scholarship programme in conjunction with the PTR during the autumn term 2016.  Students must be 16+ years of age to participate in this course.

Additional Needs Academy

Latest News

On Friday 12 February we took an unchanged team, everyone excited to be playing again. This was a league fixture consisting of 5 matches, each lasting 12 mins and 7 aside.  The winning streak continued.

We won 5, Lost 0, scored 28 and conceded 1.

A huge congratulations to the team.  We roll on!

Cedars Additional Needs Academy participated for the first time on Friday 29th January 2016 in the Beds FA’s Ability Counts Football.  This is an initiative set up by Beds FA to give students with varying degrees of disability the opportunity to participate in competitive football with an emphasis on enjoyment and social interaction. Cedars was entered into the SEN league and competed in the People’s Cup. This consisted of matches against 8 other schools in our league. Each match was 12 mins and 7 aside.

Our team for the day pictured above with Justin Butt and Liam Broxup are:

Erin Lathwell, Ayo Akinbobola, Jake Bridgstock, Sam Ballad, Byron Brooks, Stuart Lambert (C), Alanis Bateman, Logan Boon, Jamie Randall and Adam Critcher.

We won 5, drew 1 and lost 1.  We ended as runners up with each of our team receiving medals at the end of the tournament.

Inclusive Tennis | South Beds Centre

Cedars Coaching Academy is now the hub for Disability Tennis for South Beds.  Coaching runs every Tuesday, 4.00 – 6.00pm during term-time and goes outdoors to the tennis courts after Easter.  We have employed our very own specialist Tennis Coach who just happens to be an ex-Cedars student, who also trained through our Coaching Academy – full circle then ……..!

Launch of our Additional Needs Academy

Our very own “inclusive” academy operates every last Tuesday of the month, with links to Weatherfield Special School and local middle schools.

Fun and games with a difference: – Boccia, Indoor Curling, Skittles, etc.

Students experienced the rough and tumble of the real game through our links with Milton Keynes Lacrosse Club.

Congratulations to Andrea who runs our Swim Academy on successfully passing her Level 2 coaching award.  She is hoping to embark upon Level 3 very shortly.

Football Academy

LUTON TOWN CEDARS U18 DEVELOPMENT SQUAD COMPLETE GLORIOUS SEASON

In only their third season of existence the Luton Town Cedars Under 18 Development Squad finished the Season with an incredible 5 Winners Trophies, 1 Runners Up Spot and a Cup Quarter Final from the 9 competitions they entered.

Megan’s Olympic dream comes closer

Megan Fosberry receiving her cheque from Cedars Headteacher, Steven Palmer

Megan Fosberry’s dream of becoming a Paralympian in archery has taken a leap forward.  Cedars Coaching Academy has generously donated much needed funding to help Megan on her way to Rio de Janiero, Brazil in 2016 as we became her first sponsor.

This local youngster has a bright future ahead of her, with glowing references from Archery GB, who rate her highly.  Megan is part of their Paralympian Pilot Academy for 2014-2015 as she shows the potential to become Paralympain for Great Britain.

Megan is also being sponsored every month by the Connolly Foundation, a charity based in Luton whilst she remains on the elite training programme.

Triathlon

Cedars Coaching Academy has an association with a wide range of sports and can now boast a link with Triathlon and the local Leighton Buzzard Triathlon Club.  Presentation of a plaque took place at the recent Aquathlon event that Josh took part in finishing third in the Youth category of the sprint event.

 Learn to Teach Skateboarding

The Sk8 Safe Programme is a Level 2 Nationally Accredited Course in Skateboard Coaching and is designed for complete beginners; no previous experience necessary.
