The Young Leader Award (YLA) is open to anyone between the ages of 9 and 13. The YLA is the first step towards leading sports and recreational activities for younger children. This programme of leadership training encourages the candidates to work with younger children. They learn to lead a range of games and activities.
(6 hour course)
The Day Certificate is open to anyone over the age of 16 years, the course aims to enable the candidate to develop generic leadership skills and increase self-confidence. The award provides an ideal starting point for people who have very little or no sports leadership knowledge.

The Level 1 in Dance Leadership is open to anyone over the age of 14 years. This nationally recognised qualification enables the successful candidates to lead small groups in simple dance activities. The qualification teaches generic leadership skills such as an organisation, planning, communication and teamwork through the medium of dance.

The Level 1 in Sports Leadership is open to anyone over the age of 14 years. This nationally recognised qualification enables the successful candidates to lead small groups of people in simple sports and recreational activities. The qualification teaches generic leadership skills such as organisation, planning, communication and teamwork through the medium of sport.

The Level 2 Award in Community Sports Leadership is open to anyone over the age of 16 years. This nationally recognised qualification enables the successful candidates to independently lead small groups of people in sports and recreational activities. The qualification teaches generic leadership skills such as organisation, planning, communication and teamwork through the medium of sport.
(approximately 35 hours course time and 10 hours demonstration of leadership within the community)
The Level 3 Award in Higher Sports Leadership is open to anyone over the age of 18 years on completion of the award, although they can be 17 years when starting the course. This is a nationally recognised qualification that builds on the skills learned through the Level 2 Award in Community Sports Leadership. It provides skills and experience for those wishing to run sport and physical activity sessions at a senior level. The award is welcomed by the sport and leisure industry as an excellent stepping stone to employment.
(120 hours course time and 30 hours practical leadership)
NB: Candidates for this course would need to live locally due to the required hours of participation.
